There are certain things that users should know before using the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery Files tool:-

ADR is currently available only for QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise Solutions for Windows.
Accountant Editions users can’t use this feature.
ADR can backup file up to 1.5 GB.

How to restore QuickBooks auto data recovery?

There are two different methods to restore QuickBooks auto data recovery. You can either recover recent transactions using the original.TLG file with .QBW.adr file or the other option is to recover .QBW.adr and .TLG.adr files. Let’s look at the first method in detail:-

Create a new folder on your desktop and give it the name QBTest.
Open the folder having your company file.

Note:- If you don’t know the location of your file, press F2 in the No Company Open Window, it will open the Product Information window and you can find the required details.

Find the files with the .tlg extension in your company file’s folder. It will have the same name as your company file.

Note: If you can’t find your .tlg file in your company file’s folder, follow these steps:-

Open File Explorer by pressing Windows+E.
Click on Organise and then select Folder and Search options.

For Windows 10, 8.1 & 8 you need to click on view and choose file name extension.

Tap on Hide extensions for known file types.
Click on Apply and then press OK.

Copy the .TLG file of your company file and paste it in the QBTest folder you created on desktop.
Now open the QuickBooksAutoDatarecovery folder, it is also present in your company file folder.
Copy the .QBW.adr file and paste it into the QBTest folder.
QBTest folder now has two different files- .QBW.adr and .tlg file.
Now open the QBTest folder, right-click the .QBW.adr file and choose rename.
Now remove .adr from the file name.
Rerun the QuickBooks application and open the file you saved in the QBTest folder.
Now you need to verify the data.
Click on File and select Utilities, then choose Verify Data.
You can move the damaged company file to a different location and transfer the copy from QBTest to the original location if this copy of the company file is functioning.
