Why is online tutoring so effective?
So, Why is online tutoring so effective? There are several reasons why online tutoring is so effective. The major ones are listed below:
1. Availability:
The tutor can be available to you 24/7, at the convenience of your own scheduled time. In addition, if they have a webcam, you can see them or their notes, and vice versa. It makes discussions much more comfortable and easier to understand for both parties.
2. Distance:
Being able to interact with the tutor without going anywhere means you don’t have to worry about traveling or other things coming up. You can relax at your own pace. Also, you aren’t required to concentrate too much on anything else outside of the class.
3. All topics covered:
Online tutoring allows you to ask about any topic related to the course without being embarrassed, as it’s all behind the scenes! It leads us nicely to the following reason.
4. Immunity:
You’re not worried about making mistakes in front of someone, so you’ll be more likely to ask questions that pop into your head without hesitation, even if they are slightly off-topic or embarrassing! There’s no need for shyness or worry about looking silly, and you can learn better and faster.
In fact many tutoring companies who provide online private sessions, encourage their students to ask silly questions too. So that the students do not hesitate asking any questions whatsoever. Its an important reasons Why online tutoring is so effective. For best Physics tutors check myphysicsbuddy.
5. Quicker mistakes:
This ties in with the last point; asking questions makes it possible to make quicker mistakes and slower ones that you will learn from for longer. The more you ask, the more knowledge goes inside your brain! It’s a win-win situation – no such thing as a stupid question here!
6. Accessibility:
If all of your books are online, this makes everything ten times easier to access and understand. You won’t have to trawl through endless pages searching for one obscure fact or other because you get everything presented to you, and it’s much simpler than sifting through paragraphs upon paragraphs of text.
7. Instant Grades:
It ties in with accessibility, but it makes a difference on its own! In most cases, you receive your grades instantly after an online class, which means that you can see whether or not you’re doing well and what you need to work on next time around very quickly.
8. Notifications:
Providers will send notifications whenever something needs your attention – for example, if a new essay topic pops up or you get a test in one of the classes, they’ll let you know. Hence, there’s no chance of being left behind whatsoever.
9. Flexibility:
Online tutoring allows flexibility regarding when and where you can get lessons. If you can’t make it to class on Tuesday at 6 pm, you don’t have to worry about having the sessions canceled or rescheduled – this gives you much more freedom than traditional school does.
10. Results:
It is perhaps the most important one; online tutoring is proven effective in teaching, and results will show after a few classes! You won’t waste precious time trying to understand something that’s only going over your head when there are people who know what they’re talking about and can help you better than anyone else could. How effective is private online tutoring for college students?
“I’ve been taking online tutoring classes because it’s very convenient and easy to access. Professor K was the one who organized this system for our class, and I think that she did an excellent job of making it available for all students.”
J, a freshman at Seoul National University, said she has been taking online tutoring classes because it is easy and convenient to take the course.
Online tutoring classes are becoming popular among college students because they can take them according to their schedule. They are also more effective than regular face-to-face classes, where students can’t concentrate because of distractions such as looking at their phones, bringing friends, and talking with them.
“It’s convenient for college students to take online guidance classes. I used a self-study book before, but now I feel more comfortable since we can communicate better and help each other whenever we have questions,” said C, a freshman from Sungshin Women’s University.
In the online guidance class of Hansei University, “Self-study vs. Self-teaching,” professor C guides college students through their problems with a lecture and a Q&A session through Kakao Talk. They divide the time for each class into three groups so that students can ask questions anytime. She believes that the remote learning method has more advantages than disadvantages.
“Self-study is like solving a puzzle, where it’s hard to check your answers or ask for help whenever you get stuck. On the other hand, self-teaching is more effective since you can seek help at any point in time.”
Students can text questions to the professor at any time during a class, and it allows them to ask more personal questions than in face-to-face tutoring classes, where students have to gather before a class or meet each other after a lesson to ask for help. In addition, this system makes it easier for the teacher to check students’ problems and give feedback.
“In a face-to-face class, there is a bias that the teacher tells you to do something but wouldn’t let you say no or question back, which could make the student feel frustrated,” C said. “The online tutoring system allows the teacher to give unbiased assistance, which helps understanding better.”
Many other universities have started using the same system to encourage students afraid of asking for help in face-to-face classes.
However, we need to solve some disadvantages. If the professor is not fluent enough in Korean, they might have difficulties teaching online classes. And if a student uses their device to take the course, it could lead to distractions.
“It’s tough for a professor to give an online lecture because of the bad connection or sudden disconnections,” said C, in her sophomore year at Sungshin Women’s University. “I usually doubt if the other party would fall asleep when I send a question.”
Many professors ask students not to bring their phones during online tutoring classes, but using smartphones is very common in Korea. It can be essential equipment like pens and notebooks for college students here.
The challenges that we face in online tutoring:
1) The slow Internet connection,
2) The difference in the level of understanding due to different majors and backgrounds, and
3) The difference in personal strategies used when solving a problem.
To overcome these challenges, we have prepared the following solutions:
1) Prepare note sheets for each lecture so online tutoring becomes more effective before attending an actual class,
2) Answer questions by writing on a whiteboard so students can see and concentrate better,
3) Hold study sessions before the course ends.
We believe that there is no perfect solution, and we should find what works best for us. With this new learning method, we hope to overcome the disadvantages and expand our abilities as much as possible.
At MEB, we believe that online tutoring classes are more efficient than regular classroom teaching, and many students can benefit from them.
